“The cemetery’s picturesque landscape, with its mature trees and well-kept gardens, provides a tranquil retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle”

— Visitor

A true window into the later Enlightenment, the cemetery is home to the graves of law lords, philosophers, artists, and academics. Among its notable residents is David Octavius Hill, a pioneer of early photography. Nearby rest veterans of the British Army’s Indian and African campaigns, their stories etched into history.
